Agenda
13:00 EDT Sep 21, 2020 | Candid Conversation | Context and Reuse in DITA Projects - George BinaGeorge Bina - Oxygen
XML Editor The main reason for adopting DITA is its support for reuse. Reuse
implies context, as it basically means using the same thing in different
situations, that is in different contexts. Attendees will understand that reuse
benefits do not come without a cost and that cost relates to the complexity
created by managing the contexts. We will try to define what context means for
DITA and understand the inevitable requirement to define formally a DITA project
that should express all the deliverables we want to obtain. George Bina is one of the founders of Syncro Soft, the company that develops Oxygen XML suite of XML editing, authoring, development, publishing and collaboration tools. He has more than 20 years of experience in working with XML and related technologies, bringing many innovative ideas to reality and contributing to XML-related open-source projects. |

ability to update content continuously and the possibility to embed a commenting
component to collect customers feedback. Alin Balasa started working more than 12 years ago as a software developer for Syncro Soft Ltd., the developer of the popular Oxygen XML Editor. He is currently part of the team that develops Oxygen WebHelp and Oxygen Feedback. |
03:30 EDT Sep 22, 2020 | Panel Discussion | DITA Publishing - Radu CoravuRadu Coravu - Oxygen
XML Editor Separating form from content enables writers to concentrate on and
perfect the substance of the message, without the distractions of what it will
ultimately look like. But at some point, the message does need to take on a
form, and that process can be intimidating to some, frustrating to others, and a
mystery to even more. The panel provides guidance on preparing for and
implementing a successful publishing pipeline. Radu Coravu started working more than 10 years ago as a software developer for Syncro Soft Ltd., the manufacturer of the popular Oxygen XML Editor. During the last years, his main focus has been in the development of the visual XML Author editing environment and the specific-DITA support provided by Oxygen. |

09:00 EDT Sep 22, 2020 | Panel Discussion | Content Reuse - George BinaGeorge Bina - Oxygen
XML Editor The ability to single-source content into many different formats and
contexts has long been touted as a critical reason for moving to XML structured
markup. Yet many companies find they do not realize the expected benefits. The
panel considers the critical factors in developing a successful reuse strategy. |
03:30 EDT Sep 23, 2020 | Candid Conversation | DITA and Markdown - Alex JitianuAlex Jitianu - Oxygen
XML Editor DITA is a great choice for writing technical documentation. Ideally,
all contributors to a project should use it to provide content. But sometimes,
subject matter experts (like developers, engineers) will prefer to give content
in another format. We will explore what possibilities arise when this other
format is Markdown, a good match for structured authoring cases in which a
minimal markup is enough. Alex Jitianu has been working for more than 14 years for Syncro Soft Ltd., the producer of the popular Oxygen XML Editor. During this period, his main focus has been in XML technologies, the development of technical documentation tools and DITA-specific support. |
